Guide To Air Purifiers for Closed Rooms

“Mom, my friend’s house has an air purifier. What is it’s use?” Rani asked her mother.

“The first function of an air purifier is to provide air filtration in closed rooms, at home and in the offices. An air purifier is essentially a variable speed fan with one or more filters that are designed to filter the air of harmful allergens/pollutants.” her mother replied.

“So, mom, one air purifier can filter all pollutants like magic?”

“No dear, no one air purifier can catch all the pollutants and particles moving into a room, but depending on the type of filter used, they can catch many allergens and other unwanted substances. Many air purifiers have high-efficiency particulate air filters that trap airborne particles, including dust, pollen, and some mold spores. Most air purifiers are designed to remove large dust particles from the air as well. If the filters are changed on time it can really help in reducing the pollutants. To avoid mold and mildew growth in air purifiers, reduce humidity and change appliance filters regularly.” Rani’s mother replied.

“Thanks, Mom. Let’s buy one for our house.” Rani said. “But what do we need to know beforehand?”

“Rani, If somebody decides to purchase a portable air cleaner, it is recommended to filter air cleaners with high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters because they do not emit ozone. Air purifiers are most effective when all doors and windows are closed. Small air purifiers are designed for individual rooms up to 299 square feet.”

She also stated that using a medium air purifier for rooms between 300 and 699 square feet and a large air purifier for rooms between 700 and 1,900 square feet is good. The prices of air purifiers can be up to five hundred - two and a half lakh rupees.

Next, Rani and his family went to buy an air purifier for their home.
