Air Pollution Health Effects in Summer

“Students, let me tell you why air pollution increases in the summer season.” the teacher said.

“Summer weather often causes poor air quality as higher temperatures and stagnant air during extreme summer increase the amount of ozone and particulate pollution. Drought conditions can also occur during summer, so the soil becomes very dry, and small dust particles become airborne.” the teacher added.

“Did anyone else has anything to add?” the teacher asked.

One student added, “Pollution often increases in summer due to dry weather, causing more dust to dissolve in the air as these particles can travel long distances. There are also more incidents of forest fires during drought. Moreover, summer haze can irritate your eyes, throat, and lungs.”

Next, another student replied, “The increased use of air conditioners and other appliances during summer generates additional pollutants; the sun and heat turn these into excess pollutants that can be even more dangerous for us.”

“That’s right, students.” the teacher replied. “Air pollution and gases in the atmosphere can have many adverse effects on the environment, such as global warming, ozone layer damage, and acid rain, which can make people sick. This can make breathing difficult and causes diseases like lung cancer, respiratory infections, and heart.”

The teacher concluded by saying it is best to keep yourself safe in summer.
