Jalgaon's Govinda Hari Sonawane has found a portable and affordable solution to stubble burning -- a simple machine that turns agro waste into valuable products like bio-incense sticks, disposable plates and vegan leather.
The idea came to Sonawane after he suffered big losses in his small CFL business. He wanted to start an incense stick manufacturing unit, but the machine was too expensive.
Short of money and resources, he built his own, using a 200 litre drum. The best part? It costs just 1/10th the amount of conventional machines and needed no electricity!
Though the journey from prototype to final product has been a long and difficult one, Sonawane is finally getting recognition for his innovation.
He has named it BioChar, and has won several awards for it. As for business, orders have been pouring in from farmers and self-help groups across the country.
#WingifyEarth encourages such proactive actions to safeguard Delhi’s trees and keep them clean.
